Unlike the American dream of becoming economically sound, Puritans look down upon such vanity as money and material goods. The goal of the Puritans was to be satisfied with life and to achieve God’s grace. They strived for religious perfection of ridding their minds of humanly wants and replacing those thoughts with God’s benevolence. Their belief system was that every action was an act of God’s will. The puritans were extremely dogmatic about their faith and refused to accept any person or other religion which did not parallel their belief system.
