Essential Question - Slave Narrative

Originally the American dream was not supposed to be segregated however with time the white men became oppressive to minorities who did not favor their dream. In order to greedily increase their wealth white men began to buy slaves from across the ocean, Africa. Each time a slave was caught he was separated from his family, thrown into dire living conditions, thrown into chaos. The treatment the white men imposed on the slaves created a segregation of the races. This further corrupts the original goal of the American dream because the white men become a higher authority in which the slaves must give up all their freedom.
