America was founded so that people could escape having to answer to a tyrant government. As people began to settle in the colonies they were seperated by a vast ocean. The settlers no longer wished to be bound by taxes and government policies when they were not in the same country. The British american dream was to expand their empire while the settlers' dream was to create a country of their own.
